One of the most interesting wine routes to follow in France would be along the Eastern edge of the country. The first stop would be in Alsace where some of the most refreshing whites are produced. Next, one would visit Burgundy and Beaujolais, then proceed directly to the Rhone. We are doing something like that today, but with wine bottles.

LIST PRICE 19.50; OUR PRICE 16.99
This is a blend of Riesling (50%) and Pinot Gris (50%). Its brilliant golden color presages an ample, well-ripened and mellow wine projecting notes of fresh citrus fruit, lemon marmalade, orange peel and mild spices. Citrus fruit and pineapple flavors burst on the palate. This wine is especially impressive in terms of balance, while offering considerable length on the finish. Well-structured, it is rich and refined, showing freshness and minerality. Try this one with spicy Asian cuisine.
2012 Dopff & Irion Gewurtztraminer, Cuvée Rene Dopff, Alsace

This 100% Gewürztraminer is pressed then stored on its lees for four weeks. It is allowed to mature for six months in tanks before bottling. It has typical aromas that are floral (rose) with exotic fruit notes (pineapple, mango, lychee). It is round and soft, well-balanced and without heaviness in the mouth. The flavors are long and aromatic, with litchi and exotic fruits. This is a stylish wine with clean freshness and enjoyable fruit. Try it as an apéritif or with spicy Oriental cuisine. It works well also with smoked salmon and soft strong flavored cheeses.
2013 Chateau de Campuget Rosé, Costieres de Nimes, Rhone
LIST PRICE 11.95; OUR PRICE 9.99
The bouquet is very aromatic, with scents of small red fruits such as raspberries or blackcurrants. In the mouth there is a perfect balance between vivacity and mellowness. This blend of Grenache (30%) and Syrah (70%) proceeds to a very long finish, leaving a delicate impression of fruitiness. Fine scents of red berries add to the overall enjoyment and make it the perfect accompaniment to picnics, barbecues, and refreshing salads.
2011 Joseph Drouhin Brouilly, Beaujolais
LIST PRICE 22.00; OUR PRICE 19.99
Brouilly is the northernmost Cru of Beaujolais, with vines planted on steep slopes. From a distance, Mont Brouilly looks like a volcano. There is a small chapel at the top, built in 1857, to place the vineyard under the protection of the Virgin Mary. This is an elegant Beaujolais with aromas of violet and lilac, blackberry and cranberry. The wine has supple tannins, and lively acidity, and finishes with a pleasant note of wild berries.
