Argentina is fully capable of producing terrific wines at terrific prices, but it is in the under $20.00 range that wines from there can be very impressive. The primary white wine grape is the Torrontés (tor ron TESS), and while really good Cabernet is produced there it is the Malbec that rules. All wines we are tasting Saturday come to us from the Mendoza area, from vineyards grown at high altitudes.
