St. Supéry Estate Vineyards and Winery is a 100% estate grown, sustainably farmed winery located in the renowned Rutherford growing region in the heart of Napa Valley. The Rutherford Estate Vineyard is on the "Rutherford Bench" of mineral-rich alluvial soils of sandy clay loam from the Mayacamas Mountains. Deep, well-drained soil allows the grapevine's root system to mine for nutrients and water which yields complex and concentrated flavors in the fruit. Cabernet Sauvignon grown in Rutherford has traditionally been known for its fine-grained tannins, known as "Rutherford Dust." The 500 planted acres on Dollarhide Ranch, produce the full-bodied, robust Cabernet Sauvignon and distinctive Sauvignon Blanc on which St. Supéry Estate's reputation was built. Some of these vines are over 29 years old. St. Supéry Estate's wines are 100% estate from grape to bottle, allowing for complete control over how the grapes are grown and how the wine is made from crush through bottling.
2016 St. Supery Chardonnay, Oak Free

The estate grapes were pressed to tank and immediately chilled and settled prior to fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Nine percent of the blend was put through secondary malolactic fermentation to enhance complexity. This is a crisp Chardonnay with rich aromas of dried apricot, cantaloupe and pear mixed with a hint of orange marmalade. Exotic flavors excite the palate with Asian pear, nectarine and apricot resulting in a refreshing wine with a nice finish.

The difference between the two Sauvignon Blancs is the Dolarhide fruit and the fermentation that occurred in both stainless steel tanks and new French oak barrels. The final blend was completed after 5 months of sur-lie maturation. Aromas of grapefruit, lychee, kiwi and green lime are joined by a thread of toasted oak. Opulent grapefruit, lime and lemon citrus flavors meld together with the subtle creaminess from the new French oak barrels and sur-lie maturation. The result is a lovely textured wine with a clean citrus finish.

Blackberry and ripe currant aromas combine with black pepper, anise, toasted oak and smoky roasted mocha. Flavors of black plum and cassis complement flavors of coffee bean and licorice. The blend is 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot, 6% Malbec, 4% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc; the basic blending blocks of Bordeaux varietals.
