Besides being one of the world’s most scenic areas, some most excellent wines are produced there, as well; and many are available at seemingly bargain prices. The French wine regions situated along the Loire River begin with the Muscadet region near the city of Nantes on the Atlantic coast to the region of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé just southeast of the city of Orléans in north central France. In between are the regions of Anjou, Saumur, Bourgueil, Chinon, and Vouvray. The wines of this region are a reaffirmation of God’s bounty and the main reason we keep returning to the area for a continuation of our vinous exploration.
2015 Domain Michel Brégeon Muscadet, Sevre et Maine
List price 20.00; Our price 17.99
Muscadet is made from the Melon de Bourgogne grape and commonly produces young, fresh wines, (even those that spend a few months sur lie), but Michel keeps some of his wines on the lees for several years. He ages these wines in subterranean glass-lined Cuves which maintain freshness and create depth of flavor.

This is what we recommend for the ultimate party wine. It is a crisp, clean and refreshing sparkler of great value that serves well at any festive celebration; even dinner with friends. The entry is bright and zesty with hints of apple and pear on the nose and a juicy yet dry finish.

The wine is simply delicious and a winner for any and all occasions.

This 100% Cabernet Franc red has a medium bodied, rich palate. Nice fruit and good acidity keeps it in balance and serves as a wonderful accompaniment to the lighter dishes of summer. Its basic charm is the blackberry-like fruit set against a peppery background.
2013 Domaine Bernard Baudry Chinon

Baudry is unquestionably one of the Loire Valley’s top producers. In this cuvée, he demonstrates his ability with Cabernet Franc. Fermentation and ultimately aging takes place in cement tanks. The wine is supple and fruity, with smoky cherry, spiced berries and even a bit of earthiness. It is elegant for its simplicity and welcoming in its approachability.
