Mike Kobler will be here on Saturday to introduce his wines and have us sample some of the varietals that have helped establish the quality level that wine aficionados have come to expect of that property. However, the Kobler family reaches out for additional superior varietals through relationships with growers that are among the best in the Russian River Valley, priding themselves on producing world class fruit. Winemaker Brian Kobler says: “It’s a proud moment for the Kobler Estate team when you not only are able to work with legendary vineyards like Bacigalupi Vineyards, but to also receive 95 points from Wine Advocate's Robert Parker for the 2014 Bacigalupi Vineyards Chardonnay."
Featured Wines:
2016 Kobler Viognier, Kobler Family Vineyards
List price 20.00; Our price 16.99
The Viognier opens with floral character along with a tropical fruit expression. Luminous layers of peach, melon, vanilla, mango, and a touch of honeysuckle come together to fashion a finely unique white wine. The wine has a nice long finish and is well balanced with its acid.
2016 Kobler Chardonnay, Bacigalupi Vineyards
List price 22.50; Our price 19.99
There's a measured richness on the nose of this impressive and elegant expression of the Russian River Valley. The wine is medium bodied and shows bright acidity, hinting at a lemony salt and a touch of stone. It exhibits notes of vanilla, Meyer lemon, and orange blossom. It is lightly oaked and well integrated, leading to a complex texture and silky finish.
2016 Kobler Rosé of Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley
List price 15.00; Our price 12.99
This is a delicious expression of the genre, medium bodied and refreshingly crisp, with delicate lacings of cherry, apricot and peach. The underlying hint of vanilla gives it a welcome succulence and the acid keeps the wine otherwise dry.
2015 Kobler Grenache, Campbell McKinney Vineyards
List price 20.00; Our price 16.99
Big red fruit embraces chewy, integrated tannins in this vineyard-designate, a full-bodied explosion of ripeness and bold expression. While powerful, it holds on to nuances via streaks of high-toned citrus, allowing the wine room to breathe and remain easy to drink.
2015 Kobler Pinot Noir, Bacigalupi Vineyards
List price 25.00; Our price 22.50
This corner of the Green Valley appellation is world renown for its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and this vineyard is largely the reason why. The wines produced from here are typically medium-bodied with a great intensity of perfumed red berry and earth flavors. It has a solid backbone of acidity with finely grained tannins carrying the multi-layers to a long finish.
2015 Kobler Syrah, Kobler Family Vineyards
List price 22.50; Our price 19.99
The Koblers wanted to produce organically-grown Syrah in one of the coolest areas of the Russian River. On a slightly elevated ridge along the eastern border of Green Valley, the vineyard slopes gently to the west and its distinguishing climatic influences are cool temperatures, fog, and afternoon breezes. This Syrah is a fine example of these conditions producing excellent fruit and balancing acids.
