It never ceases to amaze that Italian wine producers can bottle their wine, ship it to the east coast and across America to us thirsty fans on the west coast, all for a price under $10.00. Furthermore, when you break it down to growing and picking the grapes, wine making, costs of the glass, label, cork and capsule and the shipping box, the feat becomes daunting. It is important to pay attention to wines at this end of the spectrum to provide support for the continuing flow of value wines for our everyday enjoyment.

This Prosecco Brut is lush and refreshing with apple, peach and pineapple flavors, a flowery nose and persistent effervescence. As you might expect, the Superiore DOCG rating refers to its superior quality. We showed the Jacuzzi several years ago, but not at this price; an amazing bargain. If you are wondering, yes, this is the same family that invented the Jacuzzi spa.

This family owned winery began in 1925, and today the Pasqua brothers are operating the last winery within Verona city in the middle of the Veneto region from where this Pinot Grigio comes. It is a fresh, fruity wine with lots of citrus fruit and crisp acidity that carries through to a well balanced finish. It is the ideal apéritif or partner to seafood and lighter oriental foods.

2015 Pasqua Chianti, Tuscany
List price 12.00; our price 9.99
Here is the characteristic bouquet of the Sangiovese of Chianti, fruity with a violet fragrance and a slight hint of cherries. The wine is dry, balanced and flavorful. Its lightly tannic body creates a sense of velvety softness. It is a delicious partner to spicy pasta dishes and is ideal with roasts, steaks, and grilled veal.
2015 Poggio Basso Primitivo, Puglia
List price 12.00; our price 9.99
The wine is pure fruit, made from 100% Primitivo and while it is related to Zinfandel, it would never be mistaken for the variety from Paso Robles. The lush and ripe fruit aromas translate to a rich full bodied mouth feel that ends in a soft tannin finish. It's a very fun wine to drink. The grapes came from a 30 year old vineyard in the deep south of Italy. It is perfect for meats, roasted or grilled, and functions as a perfect foil for strong cheeses.
