A great fan of Merlot since traveling to St. Emilion and Pomerol, Dan Duckhorn founded his winery in 1976 and initially dedicated his efforts to producing the best Merlots in California. Duckhorn is an amazing success story that had to spill out and over Napa’s boundaries and into other counties in order to produce wines subject to microclimates and soil conditions locally. The company moved first into Sonoma County where it produces the Migration wines. From there, the Anderson Valley of Mendocino County became the home of Goldeneye, and now there is a winery in the Red Mountain area of Washington where the wonderful Canvasback wines are produced. The company has evolved and Erin Kinney is returning to give us an account of all that is current.
