Some interesting Zins have arrived at our store recently and here is your opportunity to give them a try. Two are California blends, two are from Paso Robles, one is from Lodi and another from Sonoma’s Dry Creek Valley. These are excellent examples of the art of Zinfandel and offer great value at the price.
Next Saturday, we will have Mike Kobler of Kobler Winery discussing and pouring his family’s wine.
2012 White Stone Vineyards Zinfandel, California
List price 13.00; Our price 10.99
Paul Scotto is the winemaker of this wine and considers himself the blendologist of the family: “for me, blending is the most creative and enjoyable part of winemaking.” Indeed, he showed his talent with this wine in producing a berry and spice oriented Zin with good balancing acid and moderate oak accents.
2013 Maddalena Zinfandel, Paso Robles
List price 15.00; Our price 11.99
This garnet black color wine shows lively, fruity aromas of raspberry jam on toast and spiced cherries with a satiny, bright, fruity medium-to-full body and a nutty, cedar, and earth finish. It is a rich, nicely balanced Zinfandel with a solid acid backbone.
2015 Carnivor Zinfandel, Califorina
List price 14.00; Our price 11.99
This newcomer received a Silver medal at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition recently. It is a combination of full-bodied flavors and elegant spice. Bold notes of dark cherry and black berry jam complement hints of mocha and toasted oak. It has a smooth and silky texture that goes well with a variety of dishes containing poultry or red meat such as a thick porterhouse steak, chicken parmigiana or roasted quail. Its rich flavors end with a plush, smooth finish.
2014 Robert Hall Zinfandel, Paso Robles
List price 15.00; Our price 12.95
This Zinfandel is a full-bodied wine with a dense core of fresh raspberry and cranberry fruit intertwined with peppery spice. Soft tannins and moderate acidity nicely balance the robust fruit and spice flavors in this food friendly wine. Enjoy it with a juicy steak, pungent cheese or a decadent chocolate dessert.
2014 Old Soul Zinfandel, Old Vine, Lodi
List price 14.00; Our price 12.99
The Old Soul Old Vine Zinfandel is harvested from Oak Ridge vineyards; old vines that naturally lend themselves to producing dense raspberry, blackberry and cherry aromas and flavors that are accented by lush chocolate and vanilla notes. The palate is luscious and round with a silky mouth-feel and a long, enticing finish.
2014 Pezzi King Zinfandel, Dry Creek Valley
List price 25.00; Our price 21.75
This elegant blend of Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel boasts strawberry, allspice and vanilla aromas that tantalize the nose.
