Much of the really good Pinot Noir is produced throughout the Central Coast, some rivaling the great Pinots from the Carneros, the Russian River Valley and the Sonoma Coast. The southern part of the Central Coast stretches from Paso Robles in the north to the Santa Maria and Santa Ynez Valleys in the south. Although Syrah growth here is held in high regard, the Burgundian varietals of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are what truly define the area. This Saturday we will sample Pinot Noirs from across the South Central Coast, beginning with a Pinot Noir Rosé.
