Founded in 1994, Shipyard Brewing Company is located on the historic waterfront in Portland, Maine and produces 17 varieties of award-winning English style and seasonal beers. The Brewers Association ranks Shipyard as the 15th largest craft brewery in the U.S. In 2013, the brewery produced 166,060 barrels (2,288,300 cases), and in 2014, is celebrating its 20 years anniversary. Debbie Ellis, representing Shipyard Brewing Company will be on hand to discuss the brewing techniques for the beers below and to pour samples of each. There are many styles of beer and this is an excellent opportunity to clarify in your minds how each differs from one another. You definitely want to sample the Double Scottish Ale that is aged in Bourbon barrels.

This is a classic American style Pale Ale bursting with grapefruit citrus flavor. Dry hopped with American hop varieties for greater aroma and flavor.

Shipyard Smashed Blueberry, 9% alc, 22 oz; 8.99
A hybrid between a Porter and a Scotch Ale, this beer has a rich mouth feel and a body of complex intensity. Up front, there are notes of coffee and chocolate; beautifully accentuated by the aroma of blueberries. The finish features a delicate balance of sweet fruit and dry hops. To fully experience all the flavors, this beer is best enjoyed at 55 degrees Fahrenheit.
Shipyard Double Old Thumper Ale, 11.2% alc, 22oz; $8.95
Double Old Thumper delivers a spicy hop aroma and brilliant copper hue. This beer has a complex malty finish with a dry Simcoe Hop bite.
Shipyard Double Scottish Ale Limited Edition 2014, 10.1% alc, 24.5 oz; $13.50
Aged in Bourbon barrels for over 100 days, this ale has an aroma of black licorice, raisins, cloves and, of course, woodiness. It is smooth, malty and dry with a long spicy finish.
