Due to a late schedule change, the Cune Event will be delayed 1 week, to February 11th. Instead, this Saturday, we are exploring six of the great wine regions of France: Alsace, Loire, Bordeaux, Beaujolais, Burgundy and the Rhone. I apologize for the late change, but have selected some wonderful wines to represent these areas.
2014 Le Charmel Muscadet, Loire
List price 12.00; Our price 9.99
Estate grown and produced in the western Loire Valley, this classic French white wine has beautiful aromas of pears and melons, and is very delicate and refined on the palate. It has lovely mineral notes and a long crisp finish. The ultimate oyster wine, it is also perfect with all seafood, softer cheeses and lighter fare.
2015 Wolfberger Pinot Blanc, Alsace
List price 17.00; Our price 14.99
This clean and crisp style of wine displays delicate peach aromas with a hint of almonds. Smooth on the palate, it is balanced, with a creamy texture and a clean finish. This wine is excellent with shellfish and smoked meat.
2013 La Fleur d’Amelie White Blend, Bordeaux
List price 18.00; Our price 14.99
The wine offers enticing aromas of lime, pineapple and tropical fruits. Sharp minerality on the palate is balanced with crisp acidity, well-integrated oak and a touch of vanilla that balances a lemony freshness and leads to a long, dry finish. It works well with Salmon or any fish with sauces.
2015 Nicole Chanrion Côte-de-Brouilly, Beaujolais
List price 23.00; Our price 19.99
The Côte-de-Brouilly appellation sits on the hillsides of Mont Brouilly, a prehistoric volcano that left blue schist stones and volcanic rock along its slopes. These stones yield structured wines with pronounced minerality and great aging potential. After her formal training at the Viticultural school in Beaune, Nicole had a brief internship in the Napa Valley, learning another approach to winemaking and gaining a deeper appreciation of the traditional winemaking techniques of the Beaujolais. The resulting wines are powerful, with loads of pure fruit character and floral aromas.
2013 Bichot Savigny-les-Beaune, Burgundy
List price 24.00; Our price 19.99
This Savigny les Beaune has fruity aromas of red and black berries, enhanced by aromas of mild spices. With an initial pleasant entry, this harmonious wine leads on to a subtle and fruity finish. It is an ideal wine for many red meat dishes, game and classic cheeses. It is perfect with venison, game, boeuf bourgignon (the classic Burgundy beef stew dish) or veal cutlets with shallots. Try it also with soft cheeses such as Brie.
2014 Raynald Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Rhone
List price 30.00; Our price 27.99
This is a bright, fresh, and fruit-forward take on the Southern Rhone Classic blending Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, with Grenache and Syrah as the dominant partners. It has a complex and enticing nose of ripe black fruits, spice and leather. The palate is fruity and rounded with a long finish. Drink with roast or grilled meats and rich stews.
