Brace yourselves for the annual Opolo wine tasting event this very Saturday! Cary Thrasher will be coming from Opolo to lead our excursion through a very fine line-up of wines as only this winery can produce. Opolo wines are brash and ripe, big and full, powerful and exotic. Of course, you already know this. By all means, be on hand to sample the new releases and enjoy wine tasting at its most expressive level.
2012 Opolo Vineyards Viognier, Central Coast
LIST PRICE 22.00; OUR PRICE 19.99
Rich and seductive, this dessert style Viognier has a beautiful golden color in the glass and a bright floral bouquet. Layers of honeyed melon, ripe peach and vanilla create a smooth and creamy texture with a delicately spiced and easy finish. Consider serving this fun and fruity wine with soft cheeses.
2011 Opolo Vineyards Grand Rouge, Paso Robles
LIST PRICE 20.00; OUR PRICE 18.99
This vintage features a blend of Counoise, Grenache and Syrah. The bouquet and palate of bright blueberries, blackberries and spice titillate the palate while mellow tannins and medium bodied firmness provide a smooth finish.
2010 Opolo Vineyards Merlot, Paso Robles
LIST PRICE 22.00; OUR PRICE 19.50
True to its varietal flavors, this wine showcases the potential of Merlot in the Paso Robles area. Aromas of black cherry, plum, chocolate and red currant magnify the approachability of this wine, while soft tannins and oak nuances lead to a refined mouth feel. Tasting beautiful now, this wine will only get better with age.
2011 Opolo Vineyards Montagna-Mare, Central Coast
LIST PRICE 29.00; OUR PRICE 25.95
This Italianate blend is 56% Sangiovese and 44% Barbera is fruit driven as you would expect from these varietals. There is ample fruit here to hold up to the oak aging. The finish is long, spicy and delicious.
2010 Opolo Vineyards Serenade, Paso Robles
LIST PRICE 32.00; OUR PRICE 29.50
Here we have an uncommon convergence of landscape, climate and farming expertise at the estate Valley View Vineyard that has generated this wonderful offering of single variety Malbec. The wine has dense flavors and aromas, a creamy texture, and flavors of dark red fruit, cassis, and blackberry. It is a nicely integrated, classic Malbec with silky, soft tannins. The Central Coast Wine Competition awarded the wine a Double-Gold Medal and “Best of Class” distinction.
2012 Opolo Vineyards Zinfandel, Summit Creek, Paso Robles
LIST PRICE 19.00; OUR PRICE 17.99
This Zinfandel is a full-bodied red wine showcasing overt raspberry and black cherry fruit aromatics and flavors framed by soft tannins and balanced acidity. Subtle pepper and spice nuances further complement this hand-crafted wine. This Zinfandel is an approachable wine which is ready to drink today, although the dark color and youthful fruitiness of this sturdy wine indicates that it will likely cellar well for a few years.
2012 Opolo Vineyards Zinfandel, Mountain, Paso Robles
LIST PRICE 29.00; OUR PRICE 26.99
If you are one of those that believe bigger is better, read on. Appropriately named both for its bountiful bouquet of fruit, as well as where the grapes are grown, their most refined Zinfandel captivates the nose with pomegranate, fig, and cranberry. Raspberry jam dominates the mid-palate nuanced by savory butterscotch overtones. Vanilla, white and cayenne peppers, and cinnamon spice makes for a lively finish. Opolo’s Mountain Zinfandel isn’t known as America’s most decadent red for nothing.
2012 Opolo Vineyards Moscato, “Flirtations”, Paso Robles
LIST PRICE 12.00; OUR PRICE 10.99
Muscat Canelli is a varietal that can make fresh and exotic wines, eliciting aromas of peach, rose petal and sweet citrus. This version displays fruit flavors of melons, peaches & flowers. It’s a lovely dessert wine and can be served on the rocks.
